Bob Findlays return to the music industry early in 2007 after a 7-year hiatus can best be described in on phrase. Successful & typically unconventional. Findlays returned to the music industry pretty-well mimics the his life in general. Unconventional. His latest to-do is at Facebook.
His issue entails his personal page being ‘blocked’ because he accepted sixty friend requests. Findlay didn’t seem to bothered by this but is extremely surprised by the responses that he is receiving from followers of his music. Interestingly, on Facebook, his Music Page remains intact; something that Findlay finds almost amusing. From what I can deduce from speaking with Findlay, researching him thoroughly and keeping a close eye on proceedings at Facebook I suspect that it is more likely to work in Findlays favour and that his next move (which he assured me there would be, but no details were revealed) will, again, be successful and ‘typically’ unconventional.
I interviewed Findlay earlier today at his request; a first for the usually media-shy Findlay. He also requested the interview be published in its’ entirety.
L.H: So your personal page on Facebook has been blocked, Bob, but not your Bob Findlay Music page.
B.F: Yeah. The only reason I can think of is that it happened immediately after accepting 60 friend requests.
L.H: Don’t they normally give you warnings?
B.F: I would have thought so. I’ve had warnings about sending out friend requests, which I did early on but haven’t for quite some time. I’ve never had a single warning about accepting requests. Infact I’ve never heard of it happening to anyone before.
L.H: Why do you think this has happened?
B.F: No F***in’ idea. I tend to think it’s a glitch.
L.H: You don’t seem to be too worried about it, Bob.
B.F: I’m not, really. My Music Page is still there; now that’s a bit odd but I think it’s gong to work in my favour.
L.H: How so?
B.F: Well I’ve decided to push it as far as it can be pushed. There’s going be a whole lot lot of media activity heading its’ way, unlike before.
L.H: Why is that?
B.F: Well Facebook is a monior site musically but I’ve decided to use any legal means that I can to promote myself there. I’d like to mention that no spamming will stem from there but I’ll be using every relevant ‘app’ that’s available to me there to its’ fullest adaptabilities.
L.H: Won’t you be running the risk of having the Music Page blocked as well?
B.F: Well, the way Facebook works, who f***in’ knows? I won’t be losing sleep over that either. It will bother me in the sense that my supporters will be missing out.
L.H: I understand there’s a “Bring Back Bob Findlay” event that has been launched there.
B.F: Yeah. I must say, it’s very humbling. People who are followers of my music have jumped on & people who, like myself, despise hypocrisy have jumped on too. Very humbling.
L.H: Finally, Bob, do you plan to take any action against Facebook?
B.F: Nah. I don’t have the time nor interest in ranting away at a bunch of faceless people. I’m more than happy with the support & friendship that I’m receiving from real, genuine & genuinely good people that I have contact there via the Music Page.
