MLM Training- You’ve Got to Stay in the Game

MLM failure after MLM failure, that’s the way my MLM career began. Sadly, most people give up on MLM before they ever achieve any success whatsoever. What I didn’t know at the time, was that all my failures were actually preparing me for phenomenal MLM success!

You may have failed at MLM over and over again, but have you ever stopped to think what you have learned along the way? If you’ve paid any attention at all you’ve learned a lot more than you probably realize. If nothing else you’ve certainly learned what not to do!

MLM isn’t about convincing people to do anything. Most MLM rookies make this mistake so often you would think that they would begin to understand. The harder you work to convince your prospects that this business will change their lives, the more likely they are to never get involved in the industry.

I had to learn this lesson the hard way even after I had become incredibly successful. It’s entirely possible for you to still be learning valuable lessons even after reaching financial goals that you thought would elude you forever.

Many years ago we were enjoying the tremendous life that MLM success can give you. What I’m really trying to say, without actually saying it, is that I wasn’t really working my MLM business because I didn’t have to. Our company was offering some kind of incentive, it’s been so long that I really can’t remember what it was, but I had been goofing off for so long that I didn’t have any prospects in my prospecting pipeline.

It was the final day of the promotion and I was meeting with a successful businessman and sharing with him how great our business was. By this time I was no longer trying to convince people that my MLM opportunity was right for them, but I was selling really hard that day trying to qualify for that special promotion.

I finished what I knew was a great presentation and there was no doubt in my mind that this guy was going to sign on the dotted line. I was exceptionally proud of myself when my prospect said the words that I will never forget. “Scott, if your business is so awesome why do you have to have me sign up right now?”

My heart sank, and I struggled to answer his question. Then the right words just flew out of my mouth, “I don’t need you to do this right now” I said. Then I thanked him for being honest with me and realized that I had just learned a valuable lesson. Trying to convince people to join your MLM opportunity makes you look desperate!

Sure it’s easy to get frustrated and quit. Just imagine how much better you’ll be if you just stay in the game long enough to learn valuable lessons that will pay huge dividends over the next 5 to 10 years of your life. I’ve shared that story with thousands of people in my MLM business and some of them understood exactly why I was sharing that story with them. So they wouldn’t make the same mistake I did.

That day I blew it. Perhaps at some point in the future that prospect may have joined my team and perhaps he would have been an MLM superstar. That wasn’t going to happen now because I had given him the wrong impression of our industry.

How often do you think MLM rookies make that same mistake? One of the biggest reasons people fail in MLM is that they fail to learn valuable lessons along the way. It’s so much easier to start believing that MLM doesn’t work isn’t it? It can’t be my fault. What if you quit blaming everybody else and started to realize that we all have a lot to learn on the way to success?

Hopefully you’ve got an upline mentor to teach you how not to do this business, but even if you don’t, stay in the game and learn from your own mistakes. You’ll be amazed just how much you can learn and how much better you life will be when you do.

MLM Training- What MLM Newbies Can Learn From Britney Spears

Watching Britney Spears self destruct is eerily similar to how most MLM newbies ruin their shot at life changing success.

I’m not listening to anybody.

If it wasn’t so sad and totally unnecessary perhaps Britney Spears ruining her life in front of our very eyes would be comical. Comedian Dennis Miller refused to make light of the situation in a recent interview because it’s so obvious that Britney doesn’t have a clue.

I’m deeply saddened by MLM newbies all the time as they choose to fail because they won’t listen to anybody, not even the people that want nothing but the best for them. We’ve seen hundreds, perhaps thousands of people come and go in MLM because they wouldn’t even stop to consider the possibility that somebody could help them.

What is it that drives us to go our own way when we make such devastating mistakes in our lives?

Success in MLM is not life or death, however failing to reach our potential and living lives of quiet desperation is cruel and tragic in its own way. What we’ve seen in more than a decade of phenomenal success in MLM invigorates us and saddens at the same time.

Having lived through our own personal “downward spiral” we can come to terms with what Britney is going through and can only hope that our experience, as well as hers, might inspire somebody to turn their life around.

Mired in mediocrity for almost two years, we couldn’t do anything right. Having been a successful radio and TV personality before that awful time in our lives only made it harder to accept the pathetic free fall that we were facing.

And then we found MLM. Sure the money has made a huge difference in our lives but it’s all the other things that our MLM opportunity has given us that has made the biggest difference in our lives.

Why don’t we talk about the personal growth benefits of MLM more often? Perhaps every MLM training should include the personal testimonies of the many lives that have been forever altered for the better, thanks to this much maligned industry.

If only MLM newbies and Miss Spears would start listening, perhaps they too, would find a much better life. So many lives could be so much better if only we would open our ears more often.

Success in MLM , as in life, doesn’t have to be as difficult as we make it.

I can do whatever I want to.

One of the reasons we love MLM so very much is that we own our own business. We are not required to report to work at a certain time or perform a task that we cannot stand wearing a certain kind of clothing that we would rather not wear.

In MLM we are our own boss, something we cherish but something that frequently causes well intentioned MLM newbies to fail. Although we haven’t heard Britney say it, the way she blatantly ignores the words of all who care about her, implies that she relishes the opportunity to remind the world that she can do whatever she wants to.

Such is the battle cry of many an MLM failure! It’s my business and I can run it any way I want to.

Yes you can, but sadly with that attitude you will, most likely, fail to achieve any success whatsoever.

Like we said before, if it wasn’t so tragic, it would be comical.

Scott Miller changed his life thanks to MLM and his passion is helping people succeed in MLM regardless of the company they have chosen. Market Your MLM Only To People Who Are Looking

The reason most people fail in MLM and Network Marketing is because MLM companies are teaching everyone who joins to accomplish nearly impossible feats. Allow me to explain…
Let’s say, for example, your MLM company sells Coke. As a distributor of Coke, your MLM company and your upline are going to tell you to do things like:
* Make a list of 50 to 100 people in your “warm market” (ie: family, friends, co-workers, etc.)
* Do 3-way calls with your upline
* Talk to everyone that comes within 3 feet of you (the famous “3-foot rule”)
* Conduct “home parties” and drag people to MLM hotel meetings.
* Hand out 1000’s of fliers, brochures, CD’s and DVD’s
…etc, etc…
Basically, your MLM company wants you to talk to the people you already know (or everyone you come in contact with), have them watch a DVD or read a brochure, get them on the phone with your upline, and attend a demonstration of some kind, either at your home or a local hotel meeting. (I know, nothing new here. Stay with me.)
The purpose of all this activity is to convince people that they should all drink your Coke and join you in convincing everyone else to drink Coke.
I get e-mails all the time with people asking, “How do I convince people to join my XYZ MLM company?”
So many people don’t realize the main problem is actually so simple that it’s slapping them in the face… you cannot ever ‘CONVINCE’ anyone to do anything they don’t already want to do. It’s nearly impossible. I defy anyone to convince a die-hard vegetarian to order (and eat) a 16oz rib-eye steak. Good luck with that. It’s a nearly impossible feat.
Why would anyone even try to do this? It’s insane.
You could try talking to 100’s of vegetarians, and maybe you’d get one once in a while, and then everyone would be asking people like me, “How do I convince vegetarians to try my steak? What do I say to them?” Then, you’d see a ton of web sites bashing these crazy meat sales companies that are trying to sell to vegetarians and saying all meat salespeople are freaks. Hmmm. Nah… probably not.
And, yet, that’s exactly what just about every MLM company is teaching their distributors do: They want you to go out and convince all the Pepsi drinkers, the Gatorade drinkers, the 7-up drinkers, the coffee drinkers to drink Coke.
What’s worse, these MLM companies don’t even teach you how to discover what your prospect is currently drinking, let alone if they even so much as have an interest in your Coke. They just tell you to relentlessly shove it into everyone’s face.
Why in the world would you waste your time talking to someone who has no interest in what you’ve got, whether it’s a nutritional product, or a business opportunity, or a 52″ flatscreen?
Why would a butcher waste one second with a vegetarian when there are so many steak-lovers out there?
If you take anything away from here, it should be this:
We, as consumers, LOVE to buy! But, we absolutely hate to be sold.
So, to become successful in MLM and network marketing, you must first find out if your prospect even has a need, want, or desire for what you’re offering. Just help them get what they’re already looking for and they’ll buy it, but don’t try to convince them that they need it more than they think they need or want it.
If they don’t have a need or want… next!
Now, granted, you might talk to 100 people saying, “Hey, do you eat steak? Hi, do YOU like steak?” and they may all say, “No.” But, isn’t that so much more efficient than spending and hour or two or three, giving your full pitch trying to convince them and have them still say ‘No’ anyway?
Of course it is. You can talk to 10 or 20 times as many people doing it this way.
Remember -MLM is just a numbers game. And, when I say ‘numbers,’ I don’t mean “try to talk to at least 10 people this week.”
The trick is to run through large numbers of people in a short time. You’ve got to talk to 100 people a week -maybe even 200.
Spending just a couple seconds per person will help you accomplish these kind of numbers so you can more quickly find the people who will automatically say, “Actually, yes, I am very interested in that. Tell me more.”
Not to mention you won’t join the “NFL” club doing it this way because you’ve properly qualified people – it shows you respect them. (NFL = No Friends Left)
You have my word and promise that there are millions and millions of people out there who are actively looking for the benefit of whatever MLM product or service your MLM company offers and there are lots of great MLM companies.
But, they’ll never find you if you’re wasting your time with all the wrong people who aren’t intested in the first place. (Google: ‘Law of Attraction’)
It’s never about you. It’s about them. You must completely remove your needs out of your head – permanently.
For example, if your MLM company offers nutritional products, look for people who are “actively looking” to become more healthy. Never talk to people who aren’t already looking to become more healthy – they aren’t interested.
Doesn’t it make sense that it would be so much easier to recruit someone who already wants to be more healthy, instead of spending hours and hours chasing people down to try to convce them they should start being more healthy?
Not to mention, they’ll probably be a long-life consumer, too.
Leave the overweight bon-bons and beer guzzler on the couch with his remote control. He doesn’t think he has a problem, and he doesn’t have a desire for the benefit of what you have to offer (better health). So, stop trying to convince him.
Remember, it’s not about you.
Another example, if your MLM company offers legal services, find people who are worried about legal issues or have legal concerns (there’s millions of them out there in today’s world. No, really). Don’t waste your time trying to convince people who could care leass about their legal issues.
Am I making any sense? If your MLM is selling Coke, then you should be actively looking for thousands of people who are already looking for Coke products, can afford Coke, and are thirsty for Coke.
I promise you… there are millions of thirsty consumers out there who love and want the benefits of drinking Coke. But, please… leave your friends and family alone.
They all drink Pepsi.

What Is MLM Marketing – Important Stuff You Must Know

There have been many questions that revolve around the MLM business. One of the most common questions is “What is the difference between MLM and pyramid scheme?”
Since you are reading this article, I assume that you are thinking whether to go into an MLM business. Therefore, I shall go through several FAQs in this article. Hopefully, by the end of this article, you will have a much clearer picture of the MLM business.
1) What is MLM?
MLM stands for multi level marketing. Some people also refer to is as network marketing. Traditionally, when companies want to sell their product, they will need to go through various stages. Cost is incurred on advertising, retailing, employees etc. In other words, a product has to pass through various stages before the product reach the hand of the customers.
In MLM business, consumers can get their product directly from the warehouse. Therefore, all the cost incurred in the various stages is eliminated. That is why MLM companies can afford to reward their distributors with more commission.
Generally, MLM companies depend on their distributors to distribute their products. Distributors not only earn a commission when they sold a product, but they can also recruit other distributors and earn a percentage of commission from their effort. This can go on for several levels depending on the compensation plan of individual companies. Over time, the commission earned by distributors can be increased to a sizable level.
2) What is the difference between MLM and pyramid scheme?
A common misconception is that MLM is just another pyramid scheme. This misconception probably arises due to some similarities in the recruitment and referral process.
However, MLM is a legitimate business. So how can you differentiate an legitimate MLM business from a pyramid scheme?
Well, in a pyramid scheme, the company does not have any real products to sell. Commission is earned solely through recruitment of new members. Therefore, the people at the top will earn the most commissions.
On the other hand, a legitimate MLM company has their own products to sell. Commission is earned through the sales of product. That is why it is possible for a downline to earn more than his sponsor.
If you find a company that does not have any real product to sell, then run away as fast as you can.
3) How do people make money from an MLM business?
When you first joined an MLM company, you earn your commission through the sales of products. Over time, you will recruit more distributors under your network. When your distributors sell more products, you will also earn commission from their effort. Let’s use a diagram to illustrate.
You : 40%
1st Level: 20%
2nd Level: 10%
3rd Level: 7%
4th Level: 7%
As demonstrated in the figure above, your downline can also recruit their own downline. You will also earn a commission from their effort all the way till the 4th level. Perhaps, you are wondering why the company can afford to pay you so much commission.
Well, if you add up all the 5 levels, you will realize that it is 84%. This means the company still earn 16% of the sales. Don’t underestimate the 7% on the 3th and 4th level. Overtime, they can add up to a nice 5 to 6 figure residual income.

Does Internet Marketing Replace Traditional MLM Strategies?

For many distributors struggling to turn a profit in their MLM business, learning internet marketing strategies, tools and tactics can be the difference between realizing all of their goals & dreams that this industry promises and becoming just another casualty that tried MLM before but failed to become successful.

Unfortunately there are several trainers out there on the internet that advocate abandoning the time proven strategies taught by MLM companies in favor of internet marketing strategies.

Typically, the trainer shares a story about how they struggled in MLM before learning these internet marketing techniques and then after applying these techniques, their income exploded. They also talk about how traditional MLM strategies didn’t work for them and this is why the student needs to use internet marketing.

Trainers that advocate this approach fail to understand the ultimate goal in MLM.

MLM is not about you being the best recruiter or the best person at signing up customers. MLM is about you doing a few basic simple concepts and you teaching your team how to do a few basic simple concepts until it duplicates down through your organization and the business begins to grow without your involvement.

The challenge is sticking around long enough until those people that are willing to do these few basic things are discovered and the organization is able to take off without your involvement.

The other challenge is that there is no way of knowing whether someone you recruit is going to be one of those people that are willing to do those few basic things. There is especially no way of knowing whether the person you recruit will eventually lead you to the person that is willing to do those few basic things.

As a result, when these trainers advocate only using internet marketing strategies, they in effect handicap a MLM distributor’s ability to find those key individuals faster by limiting that distributor to one source of prospecting, that being internet marketing. The fact of the matter is that some of the best distributors in your organization may very well be people that you already know, people that they know or people that you meet when going through your daily routine.

The other downside to advocating only internet marketing strategies is that you handicap the growth of your organization by making a very dangerous assumption. Just because a prospect comes from an online source does not mean that when the prospect becomes a distributor he or she will thrive using an internet marketing approach.

The prospect that you recruited may have a very strong warm market that he or she has great influence over and is highly respected in that warm market.

However, that prospect may only be barely competent in the internet, having the ability to navigate web sites and check email, but not much else. As a result, now instead of having a distributor that could be a six figure income organization for you, by requiring only internet marketing, that distributor now becomes another distributor that quits in 90 days.

Because of this, I NEVER advocate only using internet marketing strategies to build a MLM business.

The key to success is to be familiar with ALL strategies, YOU use the strategy that works best for YOU and you work with your team to help them discover the strategy that works best for them!

Some distributors in your organization will do very well with internet marketing strategies. Other distributors will be able to master the warm market and referral process. Other distributors will do well by calling business opportunity leads. Still other distributors will be a master of the conversation and can spark conversations with people throughout the course of their daily activity to build their business successfully.

Internet marketing does NOT replace traditional MLM strategies. It simply complements traditional MLM strategies. Know that and apply that, and you will be well on the road to building a long term successful business!
